ADHD Assessment
Our clinic offers ADHD Assessments for children and adolescents who are still at school, aged 6-18.
ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a common developmental disorder that affects how the brain manages attention, activity levels, and self-control. Children and adolescents with ADHD may find it harder to focus, stay organised, or sit still, and may act more impulsively than others their age.

How do we assess for ADHD?
Before your session
You will receive questionnaires to complete, aimed at parents and teachers. These will help us understand how your child is performing, both at school and at home.
If you have a referral from school or a GP, we will review it. However, referrals are not mandatory as self-referral is sufficient.
Taking the MOXO test
The next step would be for your child to take the MOXO test. This is an online test that helps us measure some of your child's Executive Functions. The results will be added to your child's file before your appointment. You can read more about the MOXO test here.
During your appointment
The appointment is for the child/teen, and we expect at least one of the parents to attend as well. The session focuses on understanding the issues and strengths your child is bringing to the table. We will also review additional potential problems, such as anxiety, depression, etc.
If medications are suggested, we will review the available options in New Zealand, including potential effects and side effects.
Follow-up
If indicated, and we decide to pursue ADHD medications, a prescription will be provided and a follow-up schedule will be organised (usually for 3-4 weeks after your initial appointment). Follow-ups are priced separately. Click here for pricing information.
